World
famous reggae act, Majek Fashek is expected to headline this year's
edition of Ikeja Allstars slated for Saturday, 13th of December 2008 at
the New Afrika Shrine, Agindingbi, Ikeja.
Ikeja
Allstars is an annual event organized by 411 Entertainment for Inside
Ikeja Newspaper, as anniversary celebration for the first authoritative
community newspaper, circulated free within Ikeja, which is now three
years old.
Majek Fashek who just returned from the United
States of America (USA) after many years of leaving the country is one
of Nigeria's music legends still alive. The popularity of his music
transcends the Africa continent and he has performed in major shows and
concerts around the world.
According to the
organizer, Akpojotor Gbemre, "the idea of featuring Majek Fashek in
this year's event is to celebrate the highly talented singer at a time
he needed to reach out to Nigerians most and make the world feel his
music once again, since he is the only living legendary music artiste
in the whole of African Continent still alive; having lost the likes
Fela Kuti, Orlando Owoh, Sunny Okosun, Miriam Makeba and Lucky Dube to
death, and this is what Ikeja Allstars stands for".
The
Angolan rap band "Kalibrados" will release a new album entitled "Cartas
na Mesa", during a session to take place by the gate of Luanda's
"Atlântico" cinema.
The CD was recorded in
Mille Mambos studios in Luanda, between 2007/08, and was mixed in
Ground Zero studio in Portugal by Beat Laden and mastered in France by
Ercick Xavet in Master Disk Europe studio.
The CD is basically a rap and soul music album
that is already a success, boosted by the success achieved by the
promotional single "Bambribam" achieved on radios and discos.
From
the 1st to the 2nd album, one can see the group's growth and maturity
in various artistic aspects such as the lyric content, sonority with
combination of African hot rhythms and classical music.
The
CD counts on the participations of the singers Virgul, Edmásia, Anselmo
Ralph, Nacobeta, MC Bolingo, Lawilca, Dino, Nelson Freitas, Nice G and
Kanda.
The group is made up by four people, and has on the market, since 2005, the album "Negócio Fechado" with 14 tracks.
